This circuit uses high voltage transistors to provide direct power from the 110 V power grid or a common 220 V transformer from a small audio amplifier. The circuit was found in a 1973 publication and consists of a commercial version found on portable record players of the time. The circuit can be implemented with current high voltage transistors.
