The circuit shown in the figure produces pulses of high intensity light at a frequency that depends on the 100k ohm resistor. This component can be exchanged for a 1 M ohm potentiometer in series with a 47k ohm resistor for frequency adjustment. The intensity of the pulse is somewhat determined by the discharge time of the capacitor through R1 so that changes in the capacitor's value can influence this parameter. Experiments recommend capacitors from 100 µF to 470 µF to have a good power for pulsations. 12 V lamps with currents from 500 mA to 2 A are recommended for common applications.
