The circuit shown can be connected in parallel with the speaker of a sound system. Its purpose is to flash a set of up to 5 LEDs with the sound of the music being played. The transformer has a low voltage winding of 5 to 12 V x 100 to 500 mA, connected to resistor R1 and a winding of 110 V or 220 V connected to the potentiometer that adjusts the blinks according to the volume. The resistor R1 has values between 10-ohm and 330-ohm, typically according to the amplifier power.
