The output of this circuit can be a crystal phone or a piezoelectric capsule. The circuit tests the continuity of components and other circuits with good sensitivity. The LM3909 is not very easy to obtain, but once obtained, the rest of the components are common. I found this circuit in a 1982 American publication.
