We found this inverter in a Popular Electronics from the 1980s. The output is not perfectly sinusoidal, but it serves to power fluorescents and other non-critical devices. The power transistors must be mounted on radiators and the input voltage can be between 6 and 12 V, depending on the transformer used. Changes in C1 and C2 may be necessary to obtain the best performance.
