We find this simple circuit in an English publication called Electronic Circuit Design no. 3 of spring 1980. The circuit shows how a low-current reed relay can be used to connect a triac and thereby control a high-power load. The reed-relay can be improvised by wrapping 100 to 500 turns of fine wire around a common reed-switch. The Triac can be any of the TIC series with voltage according to the local grid.
