The transmitter we have described, operates at a frequency between 88 and 98 MHz, with a range of the order of 10 km in favorable topographic conditions and with an appropriate antenna. XRF shocks consist of 4 turns of enameled wire AWG 20 or 22 in a piece of ferrite 1 cm in diameter by 2 cm in length. Transistors 2N2866 and MRF237 must have good heat radiators. The coils have the following specifications:
L1 - 3 turns of silver wire 3.5 mm in diameter and central socket
L2 to L6 - 2 turns of silver wire 20 with a diameter of 0.8 mm.
All coils are wound up to 1 cm in diameter. Trimmers are common at 3 - 30 pF approximately.
