The circuit shown works by the action of a foot switch and must be inserted between the guitar and the amplifier input. The potentiometer P adjusts the distortion while P5 adjusts the excitation level of the amplifier. As it is a very sensitive assembly, the capture of noise must be mounted in a metal box and the input / output cables must be shielded. The low consumption allows the circuit to be powered by a 9 V battery. Note that the foot switch is connected to a jack and must be connected to the circuit using a shielded cable. The field effect transistor can be BF245 or equivalent. BC557 equivalents such as BC558 and BC559 can be used. One possibility of controlling distortion is the use of the potentiometer activated by a pedal. (2006)
