This circuit is used in short wave receivers that do not have the BFO (Beat Frequency Oscillator) for listening to telegraph signals in the short-wave range. The circuit also decodes SSB (Single Side Band) signals and is used with receivers that have 455 kHz FI. The coil can be a transistorized AM radio IF transformer.
