In the figure we show how to trigger a triac for a continuous voltage of the order of 2 V, controlling an alternating current load. The triac can be any of the TIC series and the trigger current will depend on the type, normally being around 20 mA. The Triac must be mounted on a heat radiator and the trip circuit must be isolated from the power supply. Pulse control is recommended with a 1: 1 turn ratio transformer.
