This circuit is used to output communications receivers that use low-impedance headphones or speakers to limit unpleasant noise spikes. The circuit uses two 1.8 V zeners to limit the amplitude of the signal applied to a phone. The circuit can also be used at the input of an amplifier. We found this circuit in a 1976 technical documentation.
