Any general purpose PNP transistor such as the BC558 can be used on this circuit from an old publication from the 1970s. The transformer is of the type found on old transistor radios and the output can be made through a speaker or a low impedance phone. The circuit works with voltages from 6 to 9 V and the 1 M resistor can be changed to obtain better reproduction gain and fidelity. The circuit works as a signal follower.
