An interesting basic circuit for projects is shown in the figure. It consists of a digital waveform synthesizer. Using an R / 2R network it is possible to generate triangular (ladder) signals as shown in the figure over a frequency range from a fraction of hertz to a few hundred kilohertz. With the use of a filter at the output, the signal can be caused to present a waveform close to the sinusoidal wave. The filter can be simple RC for this purpose. The frequency is that generated by the NAND gate, but nothing prevents this part of the circuit from being omitted, thus allowing the generator to operate with an external signal.
