This circuit was found in a Popular Electronics of June 1978. The circuit is interleaved between the guitar or acoustic guitar to obtain the fuzz effect (distortion). The transistor can be a BC548 and the operational amplifier is a 741. Note that the symmetric source is obtained with 3 small batteries. The signal input and output cables must be shielded.
