In figure 1 we have a crystal controlled oscillator that can generate signals in the range of 100 kHz to 30 MHz, based on the junction FET (JFET).

Capacitor C1 must be ceramic and the transistor admits equivalents such as MPF102 which, however, has a different terminal arrangement than indicated.
The RF choke may be of the commercial or fabricated type by wrapping approximately 100 turns of wire 32 or finer in a transistorized radio IF harnessed core. In figure 2 we have a suggestion of printed circuit board for implementation of this simple oscillator.
