This is the project was found in a 1982 publication. As shown in the figure, these are two independent astable multivibrators powered by the same 6 or 7.5 V power supply. The frequency of the LED blinks is determined by the capacitor values which can be reduced to 22 uF if higher speed is desired or increased to 100 uF if lower speed is desired. For a more interesting visual effect, the reader suggests using LEDs of different colors. The brightness of the LED is determined by the corresponding resistor in series. A 270 R resistor was originally used for each LED, but for greater brightness it can be reduced to 220 R.
