This circuit is suggested by Motorola and is based on a 1723 voltage regulator. The 2N3055 transistor must be mounted on a good heat radiator and the 0.33 ohms resistor is wire, with at least 1 W of dissipation. The recommended input voltage for this regulator is 20 V and the capacitors can be ceramic or polyester.
