This circuit generates a pulse of approximately 1 second when the light incident on the sensor varies. The circuit is from a 1977 CMOS Cookbook. The resistance of the pot should be approximately the same as that of the LDR under normal lighting conditions. With 5 V supply the circuit can function as an input shield.
