Using a new Maxim integrated circuit (www.maxim-ic.com) the amplifier shown in the figure can be powered by a single battery. Series components that have prefixes from A to D contain the programmed gain with an output power of 20 mW per channel, using 32-ohm sources. The distortion is only 0.005% and it also has a shut-down feature that takes you to a very low consumption condition. The quiescent current under normal conditions is 2.1 to 2.3 mA, depending on the version. The circuit presented is the stereo version, but the component can also be used in a BTL version for greater mono power. In this circuit the relationship between the input and feedback resistors determines the gain. Typical values for these components can be obtained from the datasheet as well as other possible configurations.
