This linear speed control for DC motors up to about 2 A was found in a 1978 publication. The power transistor must be equipped with a heat radiator and the other transistors admit equivalents. For BC212 we can use BC558. For BC182 and BC183, we can use BC548 and for BFR80 we can use BD135. The input voltage is 12 V.
