This circuit is from a 1978 publication, being connected to the contact breaker of cars that still use this component, which does not occur today. The circuit, however, can be changed to use silicon transistors and measure the pulse rate from other applications. The indicator is 200 uA or 1 mA and its adjustment is made in the 10k trimpot. The circuit can be powered with lower voltages.
