This circuit was obtained in a 1978 publication, but it can be assembled with equivalent transistors, including TR4 which can be a TIP42 for currents up to 3 A. The BC308 can be replaced by BC558 and BC108 by BC548. The input can typically range from 12 to 20 V and the germanium diode is D1.
