Some old record players use variable reluctance phono pickups, requiring a special amplifier circuit. This circuit from the 1970s uses NPN transistors and is powered by a voltage of 6 V. The circuit has great sensitivity requiring shielded cables for the signals. Non-standard component values can be approximated to current values.
