The circuit shown in the figure consists of a fixed buck regulator using the MIC23021 integrated circuit from Micrel (www.micrel.com). The circuit provides an output voltage of 1.8 V, with current up to 400 mA. The switching frequency is 4 MHz, which brings the device to an efficiency of up to 93%. The quiescent current is only 21 uA. Input voltages can range from 2.7 V to 5.5 V.
