Published in 1988 in Hands-On Electronics, this circuit converts the 12 V of a battery into 120 V AC available in two outputs. The power is a few dozen watts, but the waveform is not perfectly sinusoidal. The transistors must be mounted on excellent heat sinks and the high current wires must be of compatible thickness. Eventually capacitors from 1nF to 100 nF must be connected in parallel with the transformers in the low voltage part to achieve a frequency close to 60 Hz.
