This circuit is from the book Fun Projects for the Experimenter by Newton C. Braga, published in the United States. When the sensor momentarily closes its contacts, the SCR turns on and activates the relay that remains locked. If relays of less than 12 V are used, consider the 2 V voltage drop in the SCR while driving.
