This circuit from an old Argentine publication shows how it is possible to use a tunnel diode in a low current (5 mA) parallel voltage regulator. The circuit can be implemented with current transistors such as BC558n and BC548. The input voltage is 12 V and the output voltage determined by the 390 ohms and 10 ohms resistors can be programmed for values up to a little less than that used at the input.
