The circuit shown is a Pierce type oscillator and operates at the fundamental frequency of the crystal. This circuit employs a junction field effect transistor like the BF245 and can generate signals in the range of a few hundred kilohertz to a few tens of megahertz. In the figure we show the circuit that is fed with a voltage of 12 V. The important thing in this circuit is that the XRF shock has a high reactance in the operating frequency.
