This circuit came out in a publication called Electronics Handbook of 1993. Q1 can be a 2N2222 or even BC548 and T1 is an output transformer obtained from an unused transistor radio. The other components are common and the maximum recommended distance between stations is 20 meters, so there is no signal attenuation.
